Bauma China 2016 said it was satisfied with visitor numbers of 170,000 for this year’s show. Attendance was 11% lower than in 2014, reflecting the continuing downturn in China’s construction equipment market.

Despite the slowdown the show attracted 2953 exhibitors – around 70% from China - which was close to the 2014 total.

The top ten visitor countries, after China, were Korea, Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia, in that order. Visitor numbers in 2014 were 191,000.

Stefan Rummel, Managing Director of Messe München, said he was satisfied with the result: “Bauma China 2016 received a positive visitor response. With 14 years of development, Bauma China once again underlines its leading role in Asia.

“It has provided participants with good opportunities for industry communication and exploring product innovations, market trends and possible solutions despite the current uncertain situation.”

The 8th Bauma China was held between November 22 and 25 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

Jun Qi, Chairman of China Construction Machinery Association, said; “The success of the exhibition reflects the confidence of the exhibitors worldwide towards the Chinese economy as well as the world economy. It is beneficial to the faster, healthier growth of the construction machinery industry.”

Several major exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the show. Jing Chen, Director of the President Office of Sany Heavy Industry, said; “Bauma China is the most important exhibition to us. There are a lot of visitors this year. Visits to our booth have far exceeded our expectations.”

Freddy Man, General Manager, Atlas Copco Mining and Rock Excavation Technique-Greater China, said the company had exhibited at every Bauma China; “It is a great event not only for China, but also for all of Asia.Today, Bauma China has grown from a product exhibition platform, to a channel for industry communication. Though the market is now at a low, we are still confident about it.”

Massimo Mezzofanti, Global Marketing and Communications Director at Ammann, Switzerland, said the show had brought a good flow of customers. We met a lot of target customers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and other Asian countries.”

Xiaolu Wu, Marketing Director (Asia), JLG Industries (Shanghai), described it as a great show; “The trade show attracts a lot of first-class machinery and parts manufacturers. There are also customers from all over the world, especially from Asia.

“We have already received many orders on the first day. The organization and visitor quality are superb.”

The next Bauma China takes place at the same venue on November 27 to 30, 2018.
