The "Belt and Road" initiative is a great project that will benefit countries along the road and Poland is eager to get more engaged, Polish President Andrzej Duda said yesterday in Shanghai.

"Poland is keen to strengthen cooperation with China," Duda said at the China-Poland Trade and Investment Forum.

"We admire what China has achieved, and pay close attention to the country's latest economic development. Poland wishes to deepen trade and investment relations with China under the guidance of the new Silk Road strategy."

Poland is an important geographical link connecting Asia and Europe in the "Belt and Road" initiative. In 2013, a high-speed railway started operations from Chengdu in southwest China to Lodz in Poland, reviving the ancient Eurasian business route.

At the forum, 10 Polish business and government entities inked a memorandum of understanding with Chinese partners, including Huawei, the Shanghai Commission of Commerce, and logistics, machinery and information technology firms.
